SWKIDS

What is SWKIDS anyway?

For starters, the umbrella title “SWKIDS"covers all SWBIBLE ministries for ages 0 through fifth grade.

Now on to the details—

Curriculum: We made covering the same stuff (topic, passage, lesson, etc.) with all ages a high priority goal for SWKIDS. (i.e. unify) We recently started using the Gospel Project Kids curriculum. Right now we are learning about several of Jesus' parables. Every week we focus on making Jesus the main point of the story and teaching the Bible at an age appropriate level.

Sundays: During AM Worship, our nursery staff hosts ages 0 through 3. Four year olds through 2nd graders have the option to go to SWKIDS Corner, available during both AM Worship services. During the 10-11 AM hour, classes are divided by age all the way up to 5th grade. On a typical Sunday morning about 200 kids are learning about the Gospel! For each of these ministries to run smoothly, 85 volunteers are needed each Sunday. Contact us if you want to join the team!

Wednesdays: Can’t get enough? Us either! We are eager to get back together on Wednesday nights for SWKIDS Club and SWKIDS Club Jr.

  • SWKIDS Club About 90 kindergarteners through 5th graders rotate through different rooms: learning a Bible story, learning about global missions, memorizing Scripture, praying together and playing together. We have an awesome staff team and relationships are a high priority.
  • SWKIDS Club Jr is for ages 3 through 5. We provide a teaching time, a puppet show, scavenger hunts, games and free play. We’ve found that this is a great way to introduce young children to community at church.

Serving: Did you know that SWBIBLE Home Groups play a vital role at SWKIDS Club and Club Jr? Yep, Home Groups have been serving together and ministering the Gospel to these young lives on a weekly basis. If your Home Group is interested in serving for a rotation (Why wouldn’t you be???), please contact Ellen Staat.

Summer: Just mentioning it gets us excited! Here at SWBIBLE, summertime has a special energy and it’s all about the Gospel! For SWKIDS stuff, we have Water Wednesdays, the SWKIDS Zone at Outdoor Sunday Evenings, and Summer Camps (DON’T FORGET THE SUMMER CAMPS!) during the month of June. Summer Camps are one of our highlights each year with 300+ kids attending. Remembering all the smiling faces (and sunshine) from last year makes us eager for the Summer Camps to be here already. More info on the 2015 camps will be coming soon, but the dates are set!

  • Primary Camp (grades K-2): June 15-19
  • Junior Camp (grades 3-5): June 22-26

SWKIDS is a partnership with families. This means we need each other—families and staff—working together to grow and flourish the ministry. As, Mike likes to say, “there is no ‘them’ in SWKIDS, there is only ‘us’.” Join us on a Sunday or Wednesday to see how you can be a part of what God is doing in SWKIDS.

A family’s first connection to SWBIBLE often begins with SWKIDS ministries. We're excited about all the doors that are opening for the Gospel because of SWKIDS. Our ministry team is growing and there's room for you! We love to welcome new people and share the vision of SWKIDS. Contact us to find out how you can be involved.

Care Ministry

This past Christmas season, our Care Ministry challenged us as a congregation to consider using our time, talents, and resources to care for those within our congregation and in the community. One specific avenue for doing so was through providing a food box to a family in the community.

Here is one of the stories that was told after delivering the box of food and presents to the family:

“About a month ago, I had the desire to help a family in need this holiday season but didn't know how to go about it. When the opportunity came up in church, I felt so happy that God was opening a door. I signed up immediately…

The following week, I received a name and began praying for their needs, desires and salvation.

I spoke with the wife of the family, asked if they had any allergies… along with the names of their children. She seemed nice and very grateful.

A few days later, I went shopping with my daughter for the family because they have girls a little younger… and thought she could help me pick out the perfect gift. It was a wonderful opportunity for my daughter to take part in giving this year and not just receiving.

"It is more blessed to give than to receive. " - Acts 20:35.

[After dropping off the basket], he texted me back saying he loved it, and wanted to know if they could visit our church sometime. I cried again and thanked God for this family…

I trusted God's hand to move in all of this and I am so happy it turned out the way it did. We have been praying for this family and I hope that they do come to church and that they come to know Christ.”

Praise the Lord for what He is doing amongst us! The hope of the Care Ministry team at SWBIBLE is that we would continually look for opportunities to care and love those the Lord has placed around us.

Thank you to all who gave, sacrificed, and served.

No Excuses - Men at Prayer

On January 9th, No Excuses, a men’s prayer breakfast, acted as an early kickoff to the upcoming week of prayer. Several hundred men gathered to sing praises, talk in groups about the purpose of prayer, and then come before our Savior in prayer. During prayer, time was spent praying for our community, workplaces, families, and each other as we strive to live our lives in light of the Gospel.

In light of this event, pray that God would enable us to see dynamic man-to-man discipleship throughout our congregation, and that our congregation would continually develop a zeal for prayer. Pray for more prayer warriors at the all-church prayer times.

Is there really conflict between science and faith?

The word science comes from the Latin "scientia," meaning knowledge. In this presentation, Doctor Gary Ott helps us discover how true science reveals the knowledge of God.

He Gave, we give.

He Gave, We Give.

On Sunday, November 30th, we were reminded of the immense love that God has shown us through sending His Son, Jesus. As we were reminded of His ultimate gift, we were challenged to give in the same sacrificial way.

 As He Gave, we give.

After the message we were given the opportunity to provide a food box to a family in the area. We were blessed as a church to see 75 people sign up, over 5 times what was needed!

Thank you for your response, and thank you to everyone who is continually giving of themselves as we seek to resemble Jesus, who gave Himself for us.
