College/Young Adult and Single Adult Ministries

College / Young Adult

At the Cross Ministries is a ministry for young adults, ages 18-35. Each week we host several different events where students and young people under the age of 35, whether married or single, gather for times of Bible study, worship, and fellowship. There are also many exciting opportunities to serve within the ministry. At the Cross Ministries meets for Bible Study on Thursdays, 7-9 pm at church. They also meet at 10 am Sundays in the Multi-Purpose Room for Sunday School. Contact Bill Brown at 503.524.7000 or click here to visit our website!

F.O.C.U.S.

The Fellowship of College and University Students “Coffee House” meets from 7—10 pm on Fridays in downtown Portland. Friendship evangelism/discussion with internationals takes place over a soup dinner. International students are welcome to attend regardless of one’s spiritual background. Contact Ben Walker at 503.484.7697.

Single Adults

Single adults at Southwest are welcome and encouraged to be integrated into any of our Adult Ministries, which have purposefully not discriminated between ages or life situations. The following groups have formed for those seeking additional opportunities for fellowship and service alongside other single, adult Christians.

Living Water (Ages 30+)

"Living Water" meets on the second Sunday of the month, at 12:30 pm in Room 280. We have a light lunch and childcare is provided. The Living Water ministry provides single adults an opportunity to encourage each other in Christian growth through fellowship and social activities with the purpose to develop and exercise spiritual gifts and skills to minister to the community for God's glory. Also, they meet for a weekly Saturday night social at 6-8 pm at the home of Tia Bacon. Contact Tia Bacon at 503.430.7523.

Single Women's Bible Study

Meets Thursdays, 7-9 pm at the church in Room 280 for Bible study. They are currently studying "Intimacy with God: A Glimpse in the Psalms" and single ladies of all ages are welcome. To sign up for the study, contact Colleen Becker at 503.840.0658.
