serving our community

Spreading the Good News about Jesus is what we are all about. We get out and interact with our community as individuals and in evangelism teams. That is just who we are. What else do we do to serve the needs of our community? Read on...

Every second Thursday of every month, a volunteer team carpools from the church to the Burnside PRM Shelter. We try to leave right at 4:45 pm.

We bring along six pots of our freshly brewed coffee to serve with dinner. We pitch right in, helping serve dinner and then clean up. On our night, it is also our responsibility to run a small chapel time following dinner. We usually get back to SWBIBLE by 8:30 pm. It’s a great opportunity to serve in a very tangible way and we really enjoy it!

Want to help too? We can always use more hands! We also could use a greater variety of chapel speakers and musicians.

As we see the statistics of children being enslaved in the sex-trade rise, we are seeing how the Lord is using a ministry like Door to Grace, working alongside community agencies, to rescue and bring healing to these victims.

“But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.”  Romans 6:22

How are we involved?

During the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, groups (Home Groups, High School Fusion Groups, etc.) from SWBIBLE lovingly put together food boxes containing turkey or ham along with many other non-perishable food items. Once they are assembled, the group delivers the boxes to families in need in our local community.

In January 2013, Joyce—a representative from Kindred Partners—wrote, “Your church was so helpful and very excited about what they did. Some of them are carrying on in other ways with their families - and that’s what this is all about.”

We also are part of Kindred Partner's monthly financial support team.
