Philippines, 2011

Chris and Jan Fouts, Dick Kunze; Gary, Paige, and Makayla Dozier; and Edmir, Claire, and Matt Miranda were members of the 2011 Southwest Bible Church missionary team to the Philippines. The team's primary focus was exploring a partnership with Sampaloc Bible Christian Community Church in Manila and hosting a pastor's conference at Second Mile in Balubad 2, near Silang, Cavite, about an hour and a half south of Manila. Chris, Jan, and Dick arrived in the Philippines on January 25. January 29 they attended the graduation of 33 young men from Second Mile Vocational and Discipleship program of Action International. The following week Dick set up their welding program and trained the staff.

The weekend of February 5-6, Chris, Jan, and Dick joined the rest of the team when they arrived in Manila. Sunday, Pastor Gary taught at Sampaloc Bible Church. Afterwards the team met with the elders of the church. Monday, Gary, Edmir, Matt, Dick, and Chris witnessed to students at a college near the church while Paige, Makayla, Claire, and Jan visited the Child Survival Program at the church. Afterwards the whole team walked to the old SBCC church site and visited the homes of some of the Child Survival moms who were squatters in an abandoned building.

On Tuesday the team traveled to Second Mile and sponsored a pastor's conference on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday evening, Matt, Makayla, Claire, Paige, and Jan worked with the 0-9 year olds at Girls Club. A men's outreach was held on Saturday, also sponsored by the team. Sunday, Gary and Edmir taught at two different local churches.

A ladies community Bible study is held each Tuesday afternoon at Balubad Christian Fellowship Church down the street from the Second Mile campus. Jan got to share her testimony one week and Claire shared the next week. Paige and Makayla helped with childcare.

Mark and Christie Sherman were team leaders for this trip to Loja, Ecuador. The team from Southwest partnered with Jason Rahme and SIM (Serving In Missions) to help begin a ministry in a rural community outside of Loja.

Spassk, Russia - 2003

Our Missionary John Corey helped start Spassk Bible Church in 1994. Many from Southwest have spent time in Spassk to assist the church in its growth. From leading Kids and Family Camps to giving Seminary type training to leaders in Spassk and the surrounding region. John continues to travel to Spassk about once a year to continue discipling the leaders there and providing solid Bible teaching. Other Pastors from Southwest often go with him or at different times for intensive teaching sessions.

Soon after the wrap-up of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, our gracious hosts from Togakushi Kogen Kyokai (Togakushi Highlands Church) requested four students to take part in a summer of evangelism, construction, and fun! Four students from SBC plus two from other U.S. churches volunteered to take part, and they met in Togakushi, Japan in late July.

In February of 1998, a team of about 30 Americans from Southwest Bible Church joined the many travelers bound for Nagano, Japan to attend the 1998 Olympic Games. They didn't go to watch sporting events--they went to Japan to present the Gospel to athletes and sports fans from all over the world.
